At the Frederick Douglass Academy, we believe in organization, procedures, and rules that everyone is accountable to enhances the learning in a school. As such, the 12 Non-Negotiables, the Dress for Success Uniform, and the Student Creed were established. Each work with each other to make learning possible at the Frederick Douglass Academy.
The 12 Non-Negotiables are the set of rules that every student and their families must prescribe to, and every staff member must enforce. They are the means by which we agree to conduct ourselves on a day-to-day basis at the Frederick Douglass Academy. The 12 Non-Negotiables deal with the concrete needs of the school to ensure learning is the primary objective each and everyday.
Our Dress for Success Uniform is a reflection of the world we aspire to prepare for our students; a professional world that expects that what we know and what we show are in alignment. The blue and white are a template from which to start and symbolic of the potential within each of our students.
Last, but by no means least, is the Student Creed. It is an affirmation that our students reflect upon, and a natural extension of our 12 Non-Negotiables. Unlike our 12 Non-Negotiables that deal with more concrete day-to-day, the Student Creed acts as a reminder of the intangible beliefs that holds every person together at the Frederick Douglass Academy.
